These NAPLAN results show that whilst education funding is up, standards and outcomes are down.
For the billions of extra dollars being spent on education we aren’t seeing any improvement in the quality of education our kids are receiving.
These results also show that we need to overhaul the failed education curriculum to give Victorian kids the best chance to get good, secure jobs.
Despite the extra billions of dollars the government has spent on education these results are very modest. Victorian parents would have been expecting better results for all the taxpayer money spent.
What is also clear is that James Merlino has too much on his plate as both Minister for Education and the Minister for Emergency Services managing the CFA crisis.
James Merlino needs to drop either the Education or Emergency Services portfolios but he can’t keep doing both.
