Mr WAKELING (Ferntree Gully) – My constituency question is for the Minister for Police and Emergency Services. Speaker, as you would know, our emergency services volunteers do a fantastic job in protecting our community, and I thank them for the hard work that they do.
In particular I would like to place on record my thanks to the Knox SES unit, who is responsible for responding to flood, storm and road accident events across Knox.
For many years there has been talk about the Knox SES unit having to relocate from their current site near Lewis Road in Wantirna South, which is currently owned by Knox City Council.
Last year Knox City Council confirmed that after many years of housing the Knox SES on their land the SES will in fact be required to relocate from the site within a two-year period.
The problem is that the Knox SES unit currently does not have another site to relocate to.
My question to the minister is: where will the Knox SES unit be relocating to once council removes them?
