Monday 1 July 2019
On July 1st 1851, Victoria was declared a separate colony to New South Wales, and ‘Victoria Day’ was celebrated as a public holiday on July 1st each year until the First World War.
To mark Victoria Day, Nick Wakeling and Kim Wells, the State Members of Parliament for Ferntree Gully and Rowville, hold an annual presentation evening to award and celebrate the contributions of local volunteers who help make our state a great place to be.
Award recipients are drawn from a wide range of community groups, whether they be sporting, emergency services, religious, or neighbourhood groups. These groups and their volunteers provide services which benefit countless residents across Knox, making their lives easier, better and more
On behalf of the Ferntree Gully electorate, Mr Wakeling extends his congratulations to all Victoria Day award recipients and thanks them for their selfless contributions to our community.
Mr Wakeling also thanks the ongoing support from trusted sponsors of the Victoria Day awards: Goodlife Wholesale Party Food Shop, Vindya Cakes of Ferntree Gully, and Ferntree Gully & Rowville Community Bank Branches of the Bendigo Bank
