Passengers along the Belgrave line should feel safe commuting to and from work.
Nick Wakeling, State Member for Ferntree Gully, has announced that an elected Liberal Nationals government will commit $300,000 to undertake important upgrades to Ferntree Gully Railway Station.
The revitalisation project will include covered areas to be installed on city bound platform to give rail users a more comfortable commute, which will provide extra seating and additional protection from the summer sun and winter rain.
This commitment builds on recent station upgrades, which Mr Wakeling has advocated for, including the expansion of the station’s carpark and introduction of Protective Service Officers.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Public Transport, David Davis:
“Jacinta Allan and Daniel Andrews have put the bare minimum into Ferntree Gully Railway Station for four years but now that there’s an election on, they are suddenly showing an interest.
“Nick Wakeling has been listening to the community and working hard with our team to deliver more local funding. He has been knocking on doors on Spring Street and is refusing to take ‘no’ for an answer.
Comments attributable to State Member for Ferntree Gully, Nick Wakeling:
“It’s not fair on local commuters that they continue to get left behind by the Andrews Labor Government.
“With more people catching trains than ever before, passengers should be able to get to the city, comfortably, reliably and safely.
“I have worked tirelessly with community leaders to deliver this funding for Ferntree Gully and under a Liberal Nationals government, I will continue to work hard and keep delivering.”
