- Eastern Raptors Rugby League Club, Rowville Netball Club, Boronia Junior Soccer Club and Knox Triathlon Club receive funding from Victorian Coalition Government
- 311 clubs share in over $300,000 statewide
- Funding to keep sport accessible to all and build a more active Victoria
Four sporting clubs in the Knox area can look forward to a share in more than $300,000 worth of Victorian Coalition Government funding towards rejuvenating their club colours courtesy of the Sporting Uniform Grants Program.
Member for Ferntree Gully, Nick Wakeling MP said the four Knox clubs are included in the 311 sporting clubs to receive a grant of up to $1,000 as part of the funding from the latest round of the popular program.
“A uniform is essential for most sporting clubs, by contributing funds for uniforms, a crucial cost barrier for participation is removed,” Mr Wakeling said.
“This grant not only provides a boost for these clubs but ensures more members of the community will find sport accessible and delivers on a key Coalition Government priority of increasing participation and getting more Victorians, more active, more often.”
The Eastern Raptors Rugby League Club, Rowville Netball Club, Boronia Junior Soccer Club and Knox Triathlon Club will each be able to purchase new uniforms to replace old and worn ones.
Minister for Sport and Recreation Damian Drum said since 2011, over 2,000 clubs have benefitted from a share in more than $2 million from the Coalition Government’s Sporting Uniform Grants Program.
“Team uniforms are more than just colours; they represent local sporting traditions and
community pride,” Mr Drum said.
“By removing an extra cost burden on sporting clubs these grants keep sport affordable for families and more accessible to all. That is why we are proud to deliver the Sporting Uniform Grants Program to create a more active Victoria.”
